It's something i have always thought about and kept in the back of my mind. It is positioning yourself, if need be, to be self sufficient. By this i mean, what would you do if our economy totally collapsed ? How would you feed your family, heat your house....etc?

I currently heat with three different types of sources. Electric, propane, and wood. i try to use wood as much as possible and as much foraged dead fall as i can find. It is a little easier since i live in the country to use wood as a major heat source.

A plan i have is, every pay check i will buy one thing that contributes to our ability to self sustain. By this i mean a buying an item such as an extra box of ammo, large bags of rice, dry beans or nonperishable items to stick in a tub for that raining day.

Now hopefully these small steps in being more prepared is never used. But if we go through another great depresion we will be a little better off than most.
